Foxwood Residents Association Volunteers made a start on clearing dead vegetation from the Foxwood Park this morning.
It is hoped that a bulb planting day will be organised next week
The cycle path markings on Bellhouse Way have been repainted. Much improved for both cyclists and pedestrians
Last Thursdays decision meeting considered a large number of proposed changes to parking restrictions in the City. The results have now been published by the Council click here
A large number of representations were made by Councillors and residents who attended the meeting. These included Westfield Councillors Sheena Jackson and Andrew Waller
Foxwood Lane junction
Changes to parking restrictions on Foxwood Lane (Bellhouse Way high numbered end) junction, Cranfield Place (outside community centre) & Morrell Court (junction) were considered by Cllr Ian Gillies. He declined to make major changes to the existing arrangements. However, he did agree to;
The Foxwood Residents Association will discuss the issues at its meeting on Wednesday.
It is likely that they will ask that Councillors pursue;
Askham Lane
The meeting also declined to introduce parking restrictions at the junction of Askham Lane and Vesper Drive.
However, the Council’s Assistant Director is to write to the police in relation to taking action against obstructions caused by vehicles on grass verges (and regarding devolution of powers – which would allow Council enforcement staff to take action on issues like these).
Problem with anti social behaviour and speeding on Bellhouse Way. Residents want the Police to monitor vehicle speeds and patrol the area in the evening and at weekends
The York Council has announced which roads and footpaths will be resurfaced this year. The programme is the biggest for several years with, in total, £8,091,500 is due to be invested.
This represents an increase of 27% over the previous years budget
Around 100 individual roads are listed for resurfacing.
In the Westfield area, the programme includes £1/4 million for work on the following roads and footpaths

Today we’ve reported a full bin in Oldman Court!
We’ve asked for the bin on Oldman Court to be emptied.
Some access paths across the verge on Bellhouse Way are overgrown with grass. We’ve asked for them to be made safe

Elsewhere we’ve reported more overgrown hedges and flower beds. We understand that the Council’s garden care scheme is running behind schedule. Andrew Waller is addressing the issue

Nettles overgrowing footpaths, broken glass, full poop scoop bins, graffiti and litter in back lanes have all been reported but are still awaiting Council attention two weeks later. A confirmation of receipt of the complaints had been sent by the Council on 8th September when the issues were sent on to the responsible department for action.
The problems had been reported through “Fix my Street“. This web site allows progress to be publicly recorded. Some issues logged two weeks ago have been addressed – an abandoned bike on York Road has been removed and a clothes recycling bank emptied – but several remain outstanding.
Local Councillors have been asked to escalate the outstanding issues.
