90% of Hob Stones residents had moved int their new homes on Windsor Garth. Some road repairs had been completed although work on the amenity area was outstanding

Issues reported included a damaged junction box on Tudor Road, weed growth on Gale Lane, a full bin on Bellhouse Way and outstanding road repairs on Windsor Garth

Residents seeking to conserve the Lowfields playing field were rebuffed by the Council leadership at a meeting on Wednesday. However the battle goes on. Other parts of the City are awaking to the possible loss of other playing fields. A meeting on 19th December will hear pleas for the playing field at the former Manor school site to be brought back into public use while a Parish Council is seeking to make the fields at Osbaldwick school an asset of community value.

The City was packed on Saturday with all car parks full. Unfortunately the Council refused to unlock areas like the Reynards garage site which could have been used to help disabled drivers find a space.

Occupants started to move into the "completed" Hob Stones development on Windsor Garth. We told the developer that there was still a lot of remedial work to do in the area on paths, roads and grassed areas.

Many residents were angered by a Council announcement that they intended to build on the Lowfields playing fields - braking a promise given when the school was closed 8 years ago. A petition is being collected and representations to the government are planned.

The week got off to a poor start with an arson attack at West Bank park  Pressure increased on the Crime Commissioner who was asked to put more policing resources into the City. Meanwhile volunteers have called a PUBLIC MEETING about West Bank Park  Heritage Project Wednesday 16th November, Holgate Methodist Church, 7pm

The Acomb Alive traders group met on Tuesday and heard that the Christmas lights appeal had reached 50% of its target. Residents have until 22nd November to reach £6600. A new Foxwood area Focus was published. Focus has been a feature f life in west York for over 40 years now. In 1976 the main issues covered included a plan for major changes to Gale Lane which had a poor accident record. The "St Stephens" tip was also to eb leveled Seevral years later an elderly persons home was built on the reclaimed site.

The circus came to the Thanet Road sports area. This prompted complaints about fly posting and damage to recently planted trees. Posters for events like these can be displayed for two weeks in advance but must be removed within 2 days of the event finishing. On one evening there was some disturbance in the Chesney's Field area and a noticeable increase in litter. The Council are being asked to limit the number of fairs/circuses which are permitted in each quarter..

Over 30% of residents have returned the survey form issued in the Askham Lane/Grange Lane area so far.

Main issues raised by residents included car parking and lack of maintenace of trees and bushes. The Grange Lane/Parker Avenue was a particular source of complaint. The snicket is overgrown and subject to littering. Some residents want to see it closed. although this is unlikely as it is a Public Right of Way.
