The level 2 Fast Track course is ideal if you want to gain this valuable qualification in a short space of time allowing you to progress to Level 3 in September if you choose to. Many of last years fast track students have done just that and are well on their way to becoming a qualified counsellor.

Yortime NewsletterA record 400 courses, workshops, taster sessions, talks and flexible learning opportunities have been launched by York Learning as part of its adult Learning 4 Everyone programme.  

Lots of new courses…New opportunities include 3D printing, artisan bread-making, holiday Spanish and seated pilates courses.

A range of Saturday night takeaway workshops will be served on how to rustle up tasty Chinese, Indian and Turkish meals.

For the first time a series of specialist interest talks has been introduced, delivered by gurus from the world of gardening and archaeology. Topics explored will include big planting for small spaces, giving nature a helping hand and discovering what bones, glass, soil and bricks can tell us about the past.

Also new this year is a collection of 12 different fun and creative workshops or courses to make wedding days more personal. Crafts include preparing wedding flowers, designing contemporary wedding stationary and hairdressing for bride and bridesmaids which can be recreated for a bespoke wedding day by brides-to-be and their friends…as well as old favourites.

As well as learning for leisure there are family and workplace learning, apprenticeships and qualifications on offer too.

Step into Christmases past this festive season with a special evening on the museum’s decorated Victorian street, Kirkgate.

Meet the traditional shopkeepers and characters and join in with the carollers before enjoying a special performance of the Christmas Carol.

Take part in Christmas crafts, decoration making, visit the gift stalls, and learn about the traditions of the season with curators talks and the chance to handle authentic festive objects.

Wander over the cobbles and under the garlands of our decorated Victorian street this Christmas, and meet the shopkeepers and characters who are gearing up for the festive season.

Help Eliza Mistletoe and Barnaby Jingle look for presents in the traditional shops and take part in festive activities along the way. Then join in with the wassailing under the Christmas Tree – if you sing loud enough Father Christmas will appear!

All Children taking part will have a special moment with Father Christmas and receive a traditional toy. Price includes coffee and a mince pie.

£8.50 per child, £6 per adult (Children must be accompanied by an adult and adults must be accompanied by children!)

What’s On: Acomb Green Carol service today (Monday)

 

acomb-green-carols-21-december-2010Acomb Green Carol service is being held on Monday (December 14) at 6.30pm, around the Christmas Tree on the Green.

The event will feature the children from Westfield Primary School choir and the Adam community choir.

The event is usually very well-attended and is supported by the Friends Meeting House, who will be providing free hot chocolate.

A collection will be taken for Martin House Childrens Hospice.

People are advised to bring a torch, so they can read the carol song sheet.
