As Christmas approaches and the nights draw in, join us for some enchanting winter tales and traditional storytelling. Meet Molly our scullery maid as she takes you through the house, sharing festive stories from Scandinavia and reading classic tales from Dickens and Wind in the Willows. She may even tell tales about secrets in the house! To keep out the winter chill, huddle round as we also enjoy hot chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies – the perfect Christmas treat for all the family. Suitable for age 4yrs and above.

Enjoy a festive evening making a Christmas wreath for your home that will welcome and impress your visitors and last throughout the festive season.

You will make a door wreath using fresh greenery and dried materials that will be sure to welcome and impress your visitors upon arrival and which will last throughout the festive season.Your festive evening will be complimented by mulled wine, mince pies and suitably appropriate background music all included in the workshop price.All materials will be provided by the tutor on the day and an allowance of £15 is included in the course fee, however there will be an option to purchase extra if you wish.For more information click here

What’s on: Catch your Christmas Pudding

Time: Registration opens 9am
Venue: York Knavesmire
Cost : £10

Dress up like Santa and chase a christmas puddng around the Knavesmire. Run up to 6Km and raise some money for a great cause.

This event is a 6km walk, jog or run with a difference. Your £10 entry fee will get you a free Santa suit for you to dress up in and complete the 3km or 6km circuit.

The event is organised by the British Heart Foundation and all proceeds go to the charity. Now in its 6th year the event is a fun Christmas packed morning that helps you burn of a few calories before the festive season.

All abilities are welcomed and children can take part too.

There is even a Christmas themed fancy dress competition for those aged under 14 years old.

Residents invited to give their views on buses

BusWant to help shape York’s bus services?

City of York Council is offering bus users the opportunity to give their views on local services at a ‘bus surgery’ event next week.

The ‘bus surgery’ will take place at Explore York Library and Learning Centre on Wednesday 9 December, from 12- 2pm and will give bus users the  chance to speak with representatives from bus providers including First York, Arriva and Transdev.
