With the Selby Council now talking about charging over £80 a year for those wanting their green waste bin emptied, there is a concern that the York Council will announce a similar scheme in January.
The results of the poll held on this web site reveal that 95% of those responding would be against such a charge.
The poll question we are now asking for residents views on is the reintroduction of annual Council elections?
Elections were held each year in York until 1995 and are a feature of the democratic arrangements in many City’s across the UK.
More regular polls would allow electors to give a verdict on the way that a party is currently running the City as well as providing an opportunity to pass a verdict on the performance of local representatives.
Responses to the Boundary Commission have to be made before 14th January 2013. Representations on election frequency and ward boundaries can be made direct to the Boundary Commission by clicking here: http://www.lgbce.org.uk/all-reviews/yorkshire-and-humberside/north-yorkshire/city-of-york-fer
