York Opera presents in English, with orchestra, one of the world’s most popular operas – Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’. An opera packed with arias and choruses that you’ll soon recognise, such as the famous ‘Brindisi’ drinking chorus.

The story follows fragile and life – loving courtesan Violetta, as she is forced to surrender her love for Alfredo, in order to protect his family’s reputation.

Will she ever become reunited with her lover again before her fatal illness claims her?
