Table Tennis Paul 2Special Olympics City of York in conjunction with the City of York Council Sport and Active Leisure team are starting up a new after school Table Tennis club.

The club will be fully inclusive and will run at Joseph Rowntree School, Haxby Rd, York, YO32 4BZ, ever Tuesday evening from 4.30-6pm, starting on the 2nd February.

It will cost £4 per session.

Active York Awards Picture Winners 2015 (2) Paul 32016 will be the 3rd annual Awards and will be hosted by BBC Sport Presenter Tanya Arnold.

The Awards have grown year on year and this years Awards are expected to be a fantastic and memorable occasion.

The leading nominees in each category will be invited to attend the Active York Sports Awards ceremony.

To be eligible for nomination for any Active York Sport Award you must live, school or train within City of York Council’s boundaries the qualifying period runs from April 2015 to March 2016

Awards will be judged by members of the Active York Board, which includes sporting partners from across the city and Stuart Martel, Deputy Editor of The Press.

The York Sports Awards dinner will be used to celebrate and raise the profile of the Fund for the Gifted programme and include opportunities for corporate diners to donate, and a raffle/auction run to bring new funds to the programme.

You have just a few weeks to enter your nominations before the closing date of 15 February 2016.

The 2016 Awards will recognise outstanding athletes, coaches and volunteers in 13 categories, with the leading nominees in each being invited to attend the glitzy Awards Dinner on 17 March at University of York.

Active School, Coach of the Year, Outstanding Achievement, Active in York, Team/Club, Sportsman of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year, Active workplace, Young male sportsman, Young female sportswoman, Young disabled sportsperson, Student Sportsperson, Disabled sportsperson and Volunteer of the Year.

If you or your team or club have been a winner of an Active York Sports Award in previous years you can still be nominated.
