York Council appoints “local area coordinators” to support residents across the city

City of York Council has appointed three local area coordinators who will work with local residents in communities across the city.

Local area coordinators are there to support residents and help them to identify and pursue their vision for a good life, increase their independence and build strong and inclusive communities.

The team will also support residents to:

  • Identify their strengths, skills and gifts
  • Access a range of information
  • Develop relationships and community networks
  • Get their voice heard
  • Take actions to make their life better
  • Be more involved in their community
  • Get the right help from services.

The first local area coordinators will be based in Westfield, Tang Hall and Huntington and New Earswick wards, working with local residents to help them stay strong, safe, well, resilient, independent and connected with their local communities.
