It was confirmed on Tuesday that the Acomb market will become a permanent feature of life in the Acomb area. After the December markets, they will revert to the fourth Saturday in each month, The York Council has waived the rental fee paid by the organisers.

…..and the week ended with the Council announcing that they are likely to grant a license for the Acomb Market to continue throughout 2017. The Acomb Alive traders organisation – with help from Minster FM – have now reached 40% of their target for Christmas lights funding.

Finally Andrew Waller is asking everyone to check that their local salt bin is full. We have been fortunate recently with the last severe winter being experienced in 2010. However we can’t be sure that we will continue to be lucky for ever!

A "jobs fair" will take place at the Church Hall on Front Street on 2nd November. With unemployment now at record low levels several employers are desperate to fill vacancies.

The week ended with another successful street market in Acomb. Popular stalls included Acomb Alive's tombola, Lodge Farms "fat dogs", Pav's indian sacks and a stall selling probably the best fruit cake in Yorkshire. The next market takes place on 26th Nov.

Few residents seem to have received a letter which the council claimed it had delivered in the area alerting people to the events. Residents reacted to the plans which can be seen at Acomb Explore Library. Visitors to the Library can fill in a short comments card. Concerns included increased traffic levels in the area and misleading claims about the provision of a "Police Station" on the site. Residents plan to issue their own publicity next week to try to encourage more people to attend Wednesday's meeting meeting
