A graduation ceremony is being held on Monday 17 November to celebrate the success of over 1000 York apprentices and the businesses that employ them.
York Employers looking for 50 young, talented people
On the back of the successful York Apprenticeship Challenge, which saw over 160 Apprenticeship vacancies created in 100 days, City of York Council is reminding residents that vacancies are still available across the city.
Currently there are 50 Apprenticeship jobs available in a variety of sectors including business admin, media, ICT, dental nursing, finance and many more.

Apprenticeships and Internships in the creative and cultural sector
City of York Council is making a final call out to creative and cultural businesses who would like to access funding to create Apprenticeships and paid internships.
City of York Council will be applying for the Creative Employment Programme funding in August on behalf on a consortium of creative and cultural organisations in York and the surrounding area.

York to host Apprenticeship Recruitment Event
Young people across the city will be able to view over 250 Apprenticeship vacancies and receive job advice as City of York Council hosts an Apprenticeship Recruitment Event on Tuesday 1 July.
The event, which will take place from 4.30pm-7.30pm at the Hilton Hotel, will showcase exciting Apprenticeship opportunities from both large and small to medium-sized York employers.
The recruitment event comes after the success of the York Apprenticeship Challenge which saw 104 local businesses pledge to create 162 Apprenticeship vacancies in the city.
Young people aged 16-24 and their parents will have the chance to meet with recruiting employers as well as find out about alternative routes to Level 3 qualifications and university.
20 employers and 10 training providers will be advertising over 250 Apprenticeship vacancies covering a range of sectors including; business and finance, construction, creative and cultural, digital marketing and social media, engineering, I.T, health and more. Employers attending the event include City of York Council, NHS, Barratt Homes, Nestle, Garbutt and Elliott Solicitors, GIA Architects, Purenet, McDonalds, York Cocoa House, Meltons Restaurant and many more.
Connexions advisors will be available at 29 Castlegate alongside the event to support young people with their next-level options, including Apprenticeships, plus CV and Job Application workshops.

Apprenticeship challenge in York
Creative and cultural businesses across the city are invited to a briefing event, which will be taking place on Tuesday 17 June at York Theatre Royal from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
The briefing is aimed at creative and cultural organisations* who are thinking of recruiting for entry level positions and wish to find out how they can be part of a city wide consortium to access funding to recruit apprentices and paid interns.

York’s Apprenticeship Challenge has one week to go
There is just one week left for businesses to support the York Apprenticeship Challenge which aims to get 100 pledges to recruit an apprentice in 100 days.
The campaign, led by City of York Council and training providers, already achieved its target in just 71 days but is looking for more Apprenticeship vacancies to be created across the city.

York reaches target in Apprenticeship challenge
The York Apprenticeship Challenge has reached its target, securing 100 pledges to create new Apprenticeship vacancies from local businesses in just 71 days.
The campaign, which started during National Apprenticeship Week and is led by City of York Council in partnership with local providers, sought to create 100 pledges from local businesses to create Apprenticeship vacancies in 100 days.
Businesses who have pledged to recruit an apprentice include; Minster Electrical, International Service, Papa Kata, Curtain Up Ltd and Business Support York and North Yorkshire.

York’s 2014 Apprenticeship Challenge launches with recruitment event for young people
City of York Council will launch the second Apprenticeship Challenge with a professional Apprenticeship recruitment event on Thursday 27 February from 5pm to 8pm.
The event, which will take place at West Offices, looks to provide information on Apprenticeships for young people as well as offering the chance to meet with fifteen employers offering over 40 Higher and Advanced Apprenticeship vacancies. Training providers, along with The National Careers Service and the National Apprenticeship Service, will also be on hand to answer any questions relating to Apprenticeships .
