York Police issue warning about Email scam

Potentially useful warning from the Police community messaging service

North Yorkshire Police would like to make you aware of the following email phishing scam:
Fraudsters are sending out a high number of phishing emails, mainly targeting email addresses connected to businesses in the United Kingdom, with the message subject heading ‘Notice of Intended Prosecution’ and ‘NIP – Notice Number’ followed by a combination of letters and numbers.

A NIP, used legally, informs an individual of the intention to take proceedings against the driver of a motor vehicle, in accordance with Sec1 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.

The emails purport to come from the Greater Manchester Police.

It is believed that the URL hidden behind the line ‘Check The Photographic Evidence’ delivers the GOZI/ISFP Banking Trojan which is involved in stealing online banking login details from victims.

York’s 59th Annual Community Carol Concert

Now in its 59th year, the York Community Carol Concert is one of the City’s “must do” events at Christmas time.

Appearing for the very first time at the Community Carol Concert will be:

Military Wives Choir York , Archies Boys Aloud, Huntington Primary Academy Choir and Lord Deramore’s Primary School Choir along with concert regular Steve Cassidy.

The Shepherd Group Concert Brass Band will accompany the community carols, conducted by our assistant musical director, Mike Pratt.

Once again our host the Rev Andrew Foster will keep an eye on proceedings whilst our musical director, John Warburton will wield the baton for his 38th appearance at the Carol Concert.

Don’t forget to book your seat for this great community festive event, full of fun and high quality local talent providing your musical entertainment.
