Litter on the increase in Cornlands Road area.

Litter in Cornlands Road snicket

The report into plans to remove 3 out of 4 litter bins in the City has now been published.

Although the initial cost of 13 replacement “big belly” bins is put at £75,000, there are predictably no financial figures giving the “whole life” costs of the project.

We think this plan is flawed not least because it fails – in the City centre – to endorse a bin design which would allow different types of material to be segregated for recycling.

Meanwhile in parts of Westfield litter is reaching epidemic proportions. Snickets off Cornlands Road are particularly badly affected.
