The Councils health committee will hear an update on plans by the Haxby Group to take over the Gale Farm surgery in Front Street ( together with the linked practice of Old Forge Surgery in Upper Poppleton).

Gale Farm Surgery is proposing to merge with Haxby Group on 1st April 2015.

Both surgeries will remain open and patients will still be able to make an appointment to see their usual GP at either 109 – 119 Front Street in Acomb or The Old Forge Surgery in Upper Poppleton or access services at the Haxby Group surgeries if preferred.

The report says that there are currently 2 salaried GP and 33 staff at Gale Farm looking after 13,000 patients.

The main patient concern was the availability of appointment slots.
