Bellhouse Way 5G Mast proposal

Although not yet a formal planning application, the Foxwood Residents Association have highlighted an informal consultation which is taking place on plans to install a 20 metre high 5G mobile phone mast next to the Community Centre on Bellhouse Way.

At 20 metres high the mast would dominate the surrounding area and be very visually intrusive. It is two and a half time higher than the existing mast.

The Residents Association have identified an alternative location, on the other side of the road, which would avoid the obstruction of the public footpath and which would also be better screened.

Objections should be sent to local Ward Councillors cllr.sdaubeney@york.gov.uk and to Clarke Telecom jennie.hann@clarke-telecom.com

Missed recycling and green bin emptying today’s update

Tuesday 9th June

Household waste

All scheduled household waste collections have been made.

We also collected outstanding missed household waste from Monday 8 June.

Recycling

We were unable to collect all recycling waste from all properties in the following areas due to operating under COVID-19 restrictions:

  • Acomb
  • Bishopthorpe
  • Heworth

This will be collected on Wednesday 10 June. Please present your containers for collection by 7.00am. We collected outstanding missed recycling from Monday 8 June.

Garden waste

We were unable to collect all garden waste from properties in the following areas due to capacity issues:

  • Derwent
  • Heworth
  • Osbaldwick
  • Westfield

We’ll attempt to collect missed garden waste on the evening of Tuesday 9 June, but may not be able to revisit until later in the week. Please leave your green bin out and we’ll get to you as soon as we can. We also collected outstanding missed garden waste from the Monday 8 June.

Tree growth causes sight line concerns

It happens every year to a lessor or greater extent, but low level branches (known as epicormic growth) sprout on some trees.

If left untrimmed they can cause sight line problems for drivers and may even obstruct footpaths. We’ve reported several over the weekend.

Cornlands Road
Cornlands Road
Cornlands Road
Tudor Road
Weed growth around telegraph poles. The Council usually treats these with weed killer.
Weeds are impeding the disabled access gates at some of the entrances to Hob Moor
Overgrown hedge issues have been reported
Better news elsewhere. Dickson Park is looking very tidy.
While Corlett Court residents have turned their flower beds into a blaze of colour
& the Council have done some grass cutting near Herman Walk

Impeded paths blamed on damp weather vegetation growth

Grange Lane/Parker Avenue snicket is gradually getting narrower!
Trees are now blocking part of the path which links Kingsway West and Green Lane. Pedestrians are forced to walk on the grass. The trees are in the compound of the Council’s building contractor.
& another Council garage forecourt area apparently missed of the weed killing list. This one on Windsor Garth

Coronavirus York updates – 14th April 2020

Deaths

Six deaths – the biggest daily rise since the outbreak started –  bring the total number of coronavirus related deaths within the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to 48 – compared to 42 the day before.

Local traders

Traders are finding innovative ways of serving customers. Particularly important for small traders selling seasonal items like bedding plants. Sales – and people with time to plant out their borders – have a limited window of opportunity.
