The closure of Tudor Road for 2/3 weeks means that the number 4 bus service will be further diverted (it recently was rerouted via Ridgeway) .

Tudor Rd closed at Gale Lane end during sewer connection works for new housing development.
Suggested diversion for service 4 Gale Lane, Front Street, Green Lane both ways then to Acomb Green terminus. Inbound Ridgeway, Askham Lane, right into Gale Lane then right into Cornlands Road
Residents have complained bitterly on the “Save Lowfields Playing Field” Facebook page as contractors Wates step up their activities. The main complaints concern noise and dust although the parking of plant on public highways has also been an issue.
Promised repairs to verges have not been completed.
It appears that more disruption is in prospect as a two week closure of the Tudor Road entrance to the site is due to start on Saturday 13th June. Apparently a full closure of Tudor Road will be in place for two weeks during which time a sewer will be diverted from the school site.
From Monday 29th June for one week there will be a partial road closure with one lane closed and the road controlled by traffic lights. The closure will affect access particularly to 100-108 Tudor Road. The bus service will be diverted although First York haven’t yet confirmed their diverted route.
During this period heavy plant and deliveries will revert to using the Dijon Avenue access to the site.
The Council has let down the people of Lowfield very badly on this project. They should not be building on playing fields. Any development of the former built footprint of the school, should have been scheduled for completion over a maximum of 24 months.
Now timescales are stretching out with no progress being made on the health centre, “police station”, elderly persons accommodation, self-build, communal living plots or even in providing the promised additional off street parking spaces for Dijon Avenue residents. .
Progress is being made on providing football pitches and a luxurious clubhouse near Sim Balk Lane – mainly funded by contributions from the Lowfields development.
There seems to be no prospect of the open space and playgrounds being provided at Lowfields unless and until the whole of the development is completed.
That could be 5 years or more away.
The health crisis will affect the housing market in ways that can only be guessed at. It seems possible that the Council may end up being unable to sell the bulk of the 140 homes that it is currently building. Their decision to set up an “in house” sales team already looks suspect (and expensive)
Altogether an ill judged, poorly managed project which reflects no credit on the City of York Council
City of York Council will be carrying out resurfacing works on:
Foss Bank: In order to carry out these works safely the use of a temporary road closure from the roundabout at Heworth Green to just past Sainsbury’s entrance will be necessary whilst works are taking place.
A clearly signed diversion route will be set out for through traffic. Buses will be diverted during working hours. The diversion for bus service 14 will be Heworth Green, Eboracum Way and Layerthorpe.
Site staff will be on hand to advise and assist residents about the access restrictions once the works are ongoing.
Any specific access requirements may be arranged by speaking to the onsite staff who will co-ordinate with residents and business requirements around ongoing construction operations.
There will be no access to Sainsbury’s from Foss Bank during the works period. However, customers will be able to access Sainsbury’s from Jewbury.
Gale Lane: A temporary road closure from the mini-roundabout at Cornlands Road to, and including, the junction of St Stephen’s Road will be necessary whilst works are taking place.
Buses will be diverted during working hours. This includes a diversion for bus service 4 – at southern end of Green Lane, turn around roundabout and return through Acomb via Green Lane, Front St, Gale Lane, resuming normal route at Cornlands Rd.
Service 24 – from Ascot Way terminus via Kingsway West, Danesford Ave, Stuart Rd, Tudor Rd, Green Lane, Front St, Gale Lane, Cornlands Rd resuming normal route halfway along Cornlands Rd.
Emergency services will be permitted through at all times. Cyclists will have to dismount and use the footways.
As with any construction work, there is likely to be a certain amount of disruption and inconvenience to the public, however everything will be done to keep any disruption to a minimum.

Bishopthorpe Road between the junctions of Bishopthorp Road / Charlton Street and the junction of Bishopthorpe Road / Scarcroft Road will be temporarily closed from 12noon today [16 September].
The juction will be re-opened as soon as possible once City of York Council has carried out investigations and repairs to a sink hole which appeared under the carriageway over the weekend. Until further investigations are carried out it is not known how long the work will take to be completed.
A diversion route is in place for travellers and will follow Campleshon Road / Kanvesmire Road / Tadcaster Road / The Mount / Scarcroft Road.

Seasonal city centre road closures are being planned for residents gathering to celebrate the new year alongside increased protection planned to combat the threat posed to UK cities by terrorists.Road closures which prohibit vehicles will be in force from 22:00hrs on 31 December 2018 to 05:00hrs on 1 January 2019 on the following streets:
The taxi rank on Duncombe Place will be temporarily relocated to Exhibition Square (St Leonards Place) from 22:00hrs on New Year’s Eve. The head of the temporary taxi rank in Exhibition Square will be at bus stop ‘ED’. The small taxi rank on the other side of St Leonards Place next to the Bar Walls, will also be closed from 22:00hrs. Signage will be in place to advise that the ranks have been moved, and to show the position of the temporary head of rank in Exhibition Square. All taxi ranks will revert to their normal locations when Duncombe Place is reopened at 05:00hrs the following morning, 1 January 2019.
In addition, no waiting or parking will be permitted on either side of Blake Street from 20:00hrs on 31 December 2018, or on Duncombe Place from 06:00hrs on 31 December 2018. The taxi rank will operate as usual.
Normal footstreet hours will resume after the Christmas markets on 26 December, and then after the new year festivities on 1 January. These prohibit vehicles in the footstreet areas from 10:30hr until 17:00hrs.

The Wetherby Road roundabout upgrade will move a step closer to completion next week when we start resurfacing works on the roundabout and approach roads.
When it is completed it will be the first of seven roundabouts to receive wider entrances and exits as part of a £38m scheme to reduce congestion on the outer ring road.
To keep disruption to a minimum work will take place overnight from 8pm – 5am, weather permitting. The work is programmed to take place in three phases, these are:
Phase 1 (10 September – 14 September, 8pm – 5am): Work will be carried out off the carrigeway with the A1237 and Wetherby Road being open as normal. There may be short periods where portable traffic lights are utilised on the A1237 to allow for tie-ing into the existing road
Phase 2 (17 September to 21 September, 8pm – 5am): Work will be carried out off the carrigeway with the A1237 and Wetherby Rd being open as normal. There may be short periods where portable traffic lights are utilised on the A1237 to allow for tie-ing into the existing road
Phase 3 (24 September to 28 September, 8pm – 5am): Wetherby Road closed from the junction of Beckfield Lane to the A1237. 3-way traffic lights will be in operation on the A1237 and Rufforth arm of Wetherby Road with traffic down to a single lane.

The Council have issued a statement today saying that Thanet Road will be closed fro several hours on Sunday
This is apparently connected to the current work undergoing to install road humps and renew pedestrian crossing equipment.
The short notice of the closure is unusual. The Council have failed to even issue a media release to alert residents. No word either on the iTravel twitter feed @iTravelYork or @york_travel
The number 4 bus service is being diverted via Bellhouse Way and Moor Lane.
The road between Foxwood Lane and Lidl will close at 8:00am and will reopen by 4:00pm (depending on how quickly the works are completed)
Coppergate
Ageing traffic signals on Coppergate are set to be replaced by City of York Council from Monday 17 July.
Work is expected to be completed by Friday 28 July. To minimise disruption to residents and visitors work will take place from 7.30am-11pm, seven days a week.
To allow work to take place safely a full road closure will be in place. Pedestrian routes and access to all businesses will be maintained throughout the works. A fully signed diversion route will also be in place.
The work will include a full overhaul of the traffic signal equipment, including changes to the pedestrian crossing equipment to facilitate puffin style near side red and green man displays. There will also be carriageway and footway maintenance works to the raised table at the crossing.
As with any construction work, there is likely to be a certain amount of disruption. Residents are assured that everything reasonably possible will be done to keep this to a minimum, however buses that normally use this street will be diverted and motorists should expect some delays and plan their journey accordingly.
