What’s on in York: Shadow Puppet theatre and craft with Hoglets Drama

Hoglets is theatre fun for small folk and we have Mama Hoglet coming to our libraries to perform a fun shadow puppet show.
You can also have a go at a craft yourself after the show.
This event is for ages 3-7 years.

Little Green Lane garage area resurfaced
After many representations by residents, supported by local Councillors, the little Green Lane garage area forecourt and access road has been resurfaced.
The area now looks quite tidy, although it will be important to ensure that there is no more fly tipping and that undergrowth is cut back from the boundaries.
Good job done though.

Lincoln Court window replacement programme confirmed

The Council is expected today to confirm that all the windows in the Lincoln Court sheltered accommodation flats in Ascot Way will get new windows.
A budget of £60,000 is included in papers being considered by the Councils Executive committee today
Energise roof repair bill to hit £250,000
Energise swimming pool
The Energise sports centre roof needs to be replaced according to Council officials.
There have been problems with leaks for some months. Temporary repairs have proved to be ineffective.
The centre is now being run by GLL on behalf of the Council.
The replacement roofing work will be undertaken later in the year. It is not expected that the centre will close while the work is undertaken.
The new Energise pool was opened in 2009.
Fire crews attend arson attack on Grange Lane
North Yorkshire Fire service report an arson attach last night

Acomb fire crew attended a fire involving children’s playground equipment. The cause of fire is believed to be deliberate. Crews extinguished fire using knapsack sprayers.
It is unclear whether the attack was at the private Kaleidoscope play area or the public playground in Grange Lane park”

Problem hedge cut back from Osprey Close corner
The Council has cut the hedge back from the corner of Osprey Close and Acomb Wood Drive.
The hedge had grown on “no mans land” over the years to the point where it was obstructing access along the footpath in summer.
The street name plate was also obscured.
Nearby, work on lopping trees in Acomb Wood near Hawkshead Close is due to take place during February and March. The programme of works, which were agreed with local residents last year, is expected to take 6 days to complete.
