Acomb’s leisure centre has been scored amongst the UK’s best!
Following the ‘Excellent’ score awarded by Sport England to Energise in November, recently released benchmarking figures from Quest, the Sport England quality scheme, show that Acomb’s Leisure Centre is 16th out of the 600+ leisure centres assessed in the UK annually.
The overall result is made up from 13 assessment areas – seven compulsory and five which Energise selected from a number of different choices.
Paul Bickle the Leisure Centre Manager has now been invited to become a Quest Ambassador to assist other facilities with achieving Quest. Paul said “It is a real honour to be selected to become one of 20 ambassadors for this prestigous scheme that enables leisure facilities to continually improve. Energise is constantly striving to improve its facilities and activities for the great customers that we have.”
The ‘Excellent’ award and the benchmarking scores were made following a Quest assessment by Sport England’s as part of its national quality scheme and the most well-known improvement programme within the leisure industry. Energise went through a two-year process, with a mystery visit and a two-day assessment in the first year, and a second mystery visit and one-day assessment in the second year. The mystery visit in year two is particularly challenging as the mystery visitor does not work in the leisure industry.
