The Council are to support a bid for targeted improvements to the A64 Trunk Road to Scarborough.
If approved, an MOU will underline City of York Council’s support for a York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership strategy to be submitted to the government this month.
Once the LEP has submitted this bid it will then form part of the strategy for a long-term programme of improvements for the A64.
This follows a £50-million growth fund bid on 4 November 2013 on behalf of City of York Council (CYC), North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC), Ryedale District Council (RDC) and Scarborough Borough Council (SBC), who are jointly promoting this project in partnership with the Highways Agency, to the York North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership for inclusion in its Strategic Economic Plan (SEP).
The targeted A64 improvements project was submitted as the first significant stage of a potentially on-going longer-term programme of interventions for the A64 between York and Scarborough to improve east-west connectivity.
A decision on the growth fund allocation is expected by Government in the Summer.
