York launches new Apprenticeship campaign

apprenticeship challenge logoCity of York Council is  launching its second York Apprenticeship challenge.

The challenge hopes to raise awareness of both the business and personal benefits of Apprenticeships and see 100 pledges for new Apprenticeship vacancies in 100 days.

The free council led brokerage service is making hiring Apprentices in the city easier than ever before by offering support to local businesses who are looking to hire an apprentice and working with training providers to make the Apprenticeship suit each individual business.

The first challenge in 2011 saw 80 businesses in the city create 198 vacancies. Since 2008/09 Apprenticeship job opportunities in York have virtually doubled, from 830 Apprenticeship starts to 1600 in 2012/2013.
